Blessed Antonio Toral Cascales, also known as Blessed Antonio Toral, was a young layman born in Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, Córdoba, Spain, in 1912. He lived during a time of great political and social unrest in his country, ultimately leading to the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.
Antonio grew up in a devout Catholic family, and from an early age, he displayed a deep faith and a strong commitment to serving God. On 24 October 1936, at the young age of 24, Antonio was martyred for his unwavering devotion to Christ and the Church.

Recognizing the sanctity of his life and the virtue of his martyrdom, Pope Francis declared Antonio Toral Cascales venerable on 23 November 2020. This decree acknowledged his heroic virtues and confirmed his status as a model of holiness for the faithful to emulate.
On 16 October 2021, Pope Francis further honored Antonio by beatifying him in a ceremony held at the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Córdoba, Spain. The beatification liturgy was presided over by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, signifying the Church's official recognition of Antonio's martyrdom and his ability to intercede before God on behalf of the faithful.
