Subsequently, on 25 March 2017, in a moving ceremony held in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Aguadulce, Almería, Spain, Father Antonio Martínez López was beatified by Pope Francis. Cardinal Angelo Amato presided over the beatification ceremony, marking a significant moment for the local Church and the faithful of Almeria.
