Blessed Antonio Ayet Canós, also known as Brother Ludovico María, was a devoted member of the Carmelites of the Ancient Observance. Born on 25th July 1886 in Villareal, Castellón, Spain, he lived a life dedicated to the service of God and his fellow human beings.
Antonio Ayet Canós entered religious life and joined the Carmelites, an order known for its emphasis on spiritual contemplation and prayer. Throughout his religious journey, he exemplified the virtues of humility, obedience, and selflessness. As a Carmelite, he strived to deepen his relationship with God and help others in their spiritual journey.
Unfortunately, during a tumultuous period in Spanish history, Antonio Ayet Canós became a victim of the Spanish Civil War. He was among the many religious individuals who suffered persecution for their faith during this time. On 13th October 1936, in Barcelona, Spain, Antonio Ayet Canós was martyred, sacrificing his life for his unwavering commitment to his Catholic beliefs.

On 26th June 2006, Pope Benedict XVI issued a decree of martyrdom, acknowledging his heroic death in defense of the Catholic faith. Subsequently, on 28th October 2007, Pope Benedict XVI beatified him, further bestowing honor upon his memory and example.
