Blessed Antoni Junyent Estruch, born on 25 October 1896 in Vacarisses, Barcelona, Spain, was a member of the Claretians, a religious congregation founded by Saint Anthony Mary Claret. He professed his vows on 15 August 1913 and was ordained as a priest on 17 December 1921.
During the Spanish Civil War, which took place from 1936 to 1939, and was characterized by intense religious persecution, Blessed Antoni Junyent Estruch courageously continued to practice his priestly ministry, despite the immense risks involved. Subsequently, on 21 October 2017, Pope Francis beatified Blessed Antoni Junyent Estruch in a solemn ceremony held at the Basilica of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. The beatification was presided over by Archbishop Angelo Amato, representing the Holy Father. The celebration marked the official recognition of his sanctity by the Catholic Church and his elevated status as a blessed.
