Blessed Anton Maria Schwartz, also known as Blessed Anton Maria of Saint Joseph Calasanz, was an esteemed Catholic priest and the founder of the Congregation of Christian Workers of Saint Joseph Calasanz. He was born on 28 February 1852 in Baden, Vienna, Austria. From an early age, Anton Maria felt a deep calling to serve God and His people.
On 24 November 1889, Anton Maria was ordained in the archdiocese of Vienna. This marked the beginning of his dedicated and inspiring journey as a priest. Recognizing the importance of Christian education and the spiritual development of the working class, he founded the Congregation of Christian Workers of Saint Joseph Calasanz. Through this congregation, Anton Maria sought to provide a platform for workers to grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially.

Recognizing his exceptional virtues and contributions, Pope John Paul II declared the decree of heroic virtues on 6 April 1995, officially venerated Anton Maria Schwartz as a Blessed. Subsequently, on 21 June 1998, Pope John Paul II beatified him, bestowing further recognition on his exemplary life and holiness.
