Biography

Blessed Andrés Pradas Lahoz, also known as Blessed Andrés Sergio, was born on 30 November 1908 in La Hoz de la Vieja, Teruel, Spain. He entered the Salesian Congregation and became a dedicated Salesian brother, known for his devotion to serving others.

Blessed Andrés was an exemplary teacher, sharing his knowledge and faith with great enthusiasm and compassion. He influenced the lives of many young people through his educational work, instilling in them the values of love, faith, and service. His commitment to the spiritual and academic development of his students made him widely respected and loved by all those he encountered.

Tragically, on 19 August 1936, in the city of Tortosa, Tarragona, Spain, Blessed Andrés Pradas Lahoz became a martyr of the faith. His martyrdom serves as a testament to his steadfast commitment to God and the values he held dear.

The Catholic Church recognized the sanctity of Blessed Andrés Pradas Lahoz's life and his ultimate sacrifice. On 28 June 2012, Pope Benedict XVI declared him venerable, acknowledging his heroic virtues. Subsequently, on 13 October 2013, Pope Francis beatified him in a ceremony celebrated in Tarragona, Spain.

Today, Blessed Andrés Pradas Lahoz is commemorated on his feast day, 19 August, when the Catholic faithful remember and honor his life of faith, dedication, and martyrdom.
