Biography

Blessed Andrés Molina Muñoz was a Catholic priest in the archdiocese of Granada, Spain, who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He was born on 15 April 1909 in Ogíjares, Granada, Spain, and grew up in a devout Catholic family. From a young age, Andrés had a strong calling to serve God and dedicated himself to the priesthood.

After completing his education and theological studies, he was ordained as a priest in the archdiocese of Granada. Known for his humility, kindness, and dedication to his parishioners, Father Andrés worked tirelessly to bring the love and mercy of Christ to the people of his community. He was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him.

Tragically, during the turbulent times of the Spanish Civil War, Andrés Molina Muñoz became a victim of religious persecution. On 19 September 1936, in the village of El Umbrión, Terque, Almeria, he was martyred for his faith and his unwavering loyalty to the Catholic Church.

Later, on 25 March 2017, Pope Francis presided over the beatification ceremony of Blessed Andrés Molina Muñoz, which took place in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Aguadulce, Almería, Spain. The beatification ceremony was officiated by Cardinal Angelo Amato, who proclaimed Andrés Molina Muñoz as blessed, a title that acknowledges his holiness and martyrdom.

Today, Blessed Andrés Molina Muñoz stands as a shining example of faith, courage, and devotion to God.
